COURSES Kindergarten may choose from 1-3 courses.  The 1st-8th graders may choose 1-5 courses.
LEVELS Parents are encouraged to select the courses at the level that best matches their students' learning level which may or may not be the same as their age-appropriate grade level.  It also may be different from one subject to the next.
ATTENDANCE A total of 180 days attendance must be recorded before the end of the school year.  Students may choose any days that they wish to count as their school days.
CLASS TIME The time spent on lessons each day depends on the abilities of the individual students and how long it takes for them to master the objectives.
LESSONS Learning coaches have the ability to adapt the lessons to better fit the needs and learning styles of their students as needed.
CONTACT Parents are expected to remain in regular contact with their support teacher.  The teachers will contact them through phone and email.  The parents may choose to communicate any additional concerns by phone, email, messenger or other means as appropriate.
ACTIVITIES Students are invited to participate in school sponsored activities and events as well as additional field trips and opportunities.  These are, however, optional (except for the testing as required by the state).

Additional Programs & Opportunities

COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG Our WOSU families are invited to tune-in to KUED’s monthly live broadcasts of Colonial Williamsburg’s Electronic Fieldtrips. These programs feature experts answering YOUR questions.  In addition to the monthly “live” broadcasts, we are able to preview subject matter via the internet and delve deeper into history. Click on the link for log in info.
UTAH WRITE This is a wonderful program to help students with their writing.  It reviews and teaches writing concepts and also gives immediate feedback on their written work.  Every 5th and 8th grader with WOSU has a free account at www.UtahWrite.com where they can practice and learn good writing skills.  For more information and help, click here.
PIZZA HUT BOOK IT

Set a reading goal for each month, October – March, and get a coupon for a free personal pan pizza from your teacher each month! Contact your teacher for more information and set your goal.  To find out more or to learn about appropriate reading goals for your children, go to the link.

PEAK READER PROGRAM Each spring Seven Peaks in connection with Trafalga rewards students who are "peak readers".  Students can earn free passes to Seven Peaks and free fun at Trafalga.  Watch for more information in the spring.
SCHOLASTIC BOOKS

We can now participate in Scholastic Book Club orders online! There are many book titles at discounted prices for grades K-8.  You can browse the great monthly Club selections at low prices and order online and at the same time help our school earn FREE books, software, and resources.

DOODLE FOR GOOGLE

Doodle 4 Google is a competition where Google invites K-12 students to reinvent Google's homepage logo. Google states that they believe in thinking big, and dreaming big, and they can't think of anything more important than encouraging students to do the same.

STEP EXPRESS

WOSU is excited to be part of this PE program.  Yes, you read it correctly: a PE program. It is an 8 week “course’ that is open to anyone who would like to get up and MOVE! It is typically for 4th graders but we would like to encourage everyone to participate.

BOX TOPS Start collecting Box Tops!  Each Box Top is worth 10 cents to our school! This money helps pay for WOSU activities. You can turn them in to your teacher either at an event or by mail. Please TRIM them to cut down on shipping costs. To see how much our school has earned, click on Box Tops and use our logon name:
