Powerspeak Helps & Hints

TRAINING There is online training available to introduce you to Powerspeak.  Click here for the link and schedule.  Click here for HANDOUTS

Click HERE to attend the RECORDED SESSION

COURSES There are 3 levels of the Powerspeak courses in each language: elementary, middle school, and high school.  The lower courses are simplier and slower-paced and contain less grammar.  Middle school levels are equal to half of the high school level.  For example, Middle School Spanish 1 & 2 is equal to High School Spanish 1.
FEEDBACK This is a fairly new part of the K12 program and as such, we welcome any feedback or comments regarding the world language courses.  Please send the feedback to your teacher and to K12 through the Feedback link on your OLS homepage.
LOGGING IN You can access your Powerspeak courses  through ONLY the STUDENT OLS homepage.  If the OLS homepage has the child's name next to the student icon in the top lefthand corner, then you should be able to click on the Powerspeak link on the bottom of the righthand links.  This link should take you directly to the Powerspeak lessons. Click here to find out how to set up the student OLS account.
LOCKED ASSIGNMENTS The assignments and quizzes are set up to only allow the student to take them one time.  After they are submitted, they are locked and have to be unlocked in order to allow them to be redone.  At this time, we do not have the ability to unlock all of these items.
PROBLEMS Please report all problems or errors that you find in the Powerspeak lessons to your teacher and/or to the Powerspeak support.

Hours of support: (Mon-Fri)   7 AM – 7 PM MST

You will need to note which language, course, and lesson the problem or question is in.  It is often best to include a screen shot in the email.  Copy the screen (Prnt Scrn key) and then paste (Ctrl+V or right-click PASTE) the image into the body of the email.)

Many audio problems can be resolved by following the troubleshooting steps on this document: Problems Recording

REQUIREMENTS In order for the activities and programs to run, you need the following:
SPECIAL CHARACTER CODES If your child needs to use different characters to write the foreign words, you can copy and paste the unique character when given that option.  Another way to make these letters is to type the "character code".  Here are the codes for German, Spanish, and French.
TRACKING PROGRESS Learning coaches can access their Powerspeak account through their Learning Coach's OLS.  However, if the student does the lessons through this link, the scores will NOT be recorded.  This link is for the parents to be able to track their student's progress.
VOCABULARY LISTS There currently are no vocabulary lists available to print outside of the lessons.  Sometimes you can find a list of vocabulary words to study on the review lessons prior to the quizzes.  You can copy (CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the list into another document.  Watch for a link at the bottom of the lists for you to print the list.
ASKS FOR PASSWORD If the Powerspeak repeatedly asks for your password once you have clicked on the link, it may be a conflict with your cookies and firewalls.  One way to fix this is to use Firefox as your browser.  The other alternative would be to check with your teacher and get a Powerspeak username and password to log in directly.
